Celebrating the time when the Jews slept in fragile hut-type looking dwellings traveling from Egypt back to Israel during their forty years through the desert, well, we have a holiday for it! Shake your lulav with the etrog (smells so good!) (but don’t eat!) and even if you can’t sleep in a three-walled hut with branches, Tel Aviv never fails to offer an array of holiday events.
Family Time
The BIALIK HOUSE is hosting a variety of activities from story telling, museum tours, to workshops where participants can discover Tel Aviv’s roots as the first Hebrew city, and how our ancestors lived here.
Keep tying in history with fun at the Gutman Museum! Help decorate the sukkah and then listen to stories before participating in the “Garage Sale” in the newly renovated wing- where all your “trash” will be sold as another man’s “treasure.”
Although not related to all things nature and sleeping outside in a hut, rekindle your youth at Suzanne Dellal’s performance of Snow White. There will be two performances on September 24.
Action Outside of TLV
Okay, so usually the Dead Sea is called “Dead” for a reason, but not this Sukkot season! The Tamar Festival is bringing in tons of Israeli and international artists for a weekend long festival of concerts and more at awesome sites such as Massada and Ein Gedi. Taking place for the 11th time, don’t miss out on favorites such as the Balkan Beat Box, Carolina, Asaf Avidan Mojo or Matisyahu.
Take another trip to the desert for the Zorba Sukkot Festival 2010. From September 22-25, this all day festival will definitely be one of the highlights as the summer season concludes.
Good Eats
Special seafood, wine, and beer offerings and more at Baba Yaga to celebrate throughout the holiday- during lunch and dinner.
