Our method, “Derech Ha’Kol” (literally “the voice’s way”), combines voice development, yoga, and chi kong, integrating elements and principles of ancient Eastern philosophies, and Jewish sources, all with a belief in man’s spirit and strength. Derech Ha’Kol emphasizes and aspires toward love and joy in singing, and alteration of one’s thinking, linking the body’s work with that of the heart, connecting breath and soul and integrating movement, voice and imagination.
The Derech Ha’Kol studio, in Tel Aviv, is an island of calm in the midst of the din of the city. Avi and Ayelet Oblass founded the studio with a sense of mission and desire to create a community which will practice health, happiness, joy in singing and serenity in daily life.
Avi teaches Iyengar Yoga, awakening his students to flexibility, good posture, balance, and expanding both body and consciousness.
Ayelet teaches “Derech Ha’Kol”, a method she has developed over time as a creative singer and teacher, and which she imparts to her students.
“Derech Ha’kol” is practiced by people of all ages, from 8 thru 80, including singers, artists, writers, composers, actors, story-tellers, students of all disciplines hoping to open their hearts and voices, those who want but are afraid to sing, and children searching for peace and connection to themselves.
Avi and Ayelet Oblass also offer workshops in the field, on their own and along with teachers of yoga and chi kong, musicians, artists and spiritual mentors.
According to their way and belief, our various feelings become the condition of our bodies. The shortened, closed body or the stretched, soft, flexible body each affect the quality of our breathing and range, and influence the capabilities of the amazing instrument that is our body and our voice.
In practicing the ‘Derech Ha’Kol method, a broken voice experiences healing, where fear turns to daring; expression, communication and performance become comforting and liberating.
Voice development, and practice of yoga and chi kong -
all repair and nurture our awareness of balance,
strengthen our frames and bodies,
expand our breathing passages and voices
and create growth and transformation.
